Dr. Jeffrey Allen Gehret is an Interventional Pain Medicine Specialist. He joins University Pain Medicine Center after finishing an Interventional Pain Anesthesiology Fellowship at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Gehret completed a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and was chief resident in 2008 and 2009 and where he received many awards including special recognition for exceptional contributions, scholarly activity and achievement, and medical student teaching in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Gehret is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Gehret is affiliated with some of the best hospitals in Central Jersey, including Saint Peter’s University Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

With his unique training in both Physical Medicine Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Anesthesiology, Dr. Gehret integrates Osteopathic manual treatments with interventional pain management, focusing on comprehensive treatments of spinal injuries. His expertise in both specialties makes him an asset to the University Pain Medicine Team. Dr. Gehret's services provide treatment for all forms of pain including but not limited to neck pain, back pain, headaches, facial pain, diabetic neuropathy, joint pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Sports related injuries and cancer pain. In addition to providing interventional pain management techniques such as joint, epidural injections and nerve blocks, Dr. Gehret is skilled in multiple manipulative techniques, including impulse techniques, cranial osteopathy, muscle energy techniques and facilitated positional release.

Dr. Gehret has presented research at regional and national Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine meetings. Recently, he presented his research on “Value of Psychological Testing in Spinal Cord or Occipital Stimulation,” to leaders in the field of neuromodulation and it was chosen as one of the “Top Ten Papers” at the conference. He is a published writer for medical journals, most recently Dr. Gehretco-authored an article in Practical Neurology titled “Low Back vs., Hip Pain: How to Decide?”

Dr. Gehret is an active member in several academic and professional societies including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, North American Spine Society, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, The North American Neuromodulation Academy and the American Osteopathic Association.
